After Virtue (Les Disques Du Crépuscule / Delabel, 1988)

“After Virtue” is a New Age and contemporary instrumental piano solo album by Wim Mertens released in 1988.

“Justice” is an apathetic and relaxing New Age taste fragmental piano piece has elements of Jazz.

“Prudence” is miserable and Folk taste passionate piano piece.

“Temperance” is sorrowful and passionate piano piece features impressive solid arpeggios and backings.

“Courage” is a pure contemporary impressionist piano piece without clear melody.

“Humility” is left-hand arpeggio based beautiful and sentimental piano piece with nice melodies.

“Faith” is a contemporary impressionist song, which is silent also passionate.

“Hope”, despite the title, the mood is initially melancholic, but some lights of the hope I can find in melodies and harmonies. Later part song become more vivid and solid.

“Charity” is left-hand arpeggio based passionate also warm song fills with Mertens’ lover for people and the world.

Excellent contemporary and New Age piano solo album, there’s the mixture of the elements of especially Impressionist Music, and Jazz, Traditional Music, Minimal Music and today’s non-state mood.

Voice of the Living (Usura Music, 2023)

“Too Good, Too Looe” is a melancholic and passionate, (Spanish Celt?) Folk taste instrumental song by piano, strings and clarinet.

“Glossary Raisonné” is Celtic Folk, New Age and Pop taste refreshing and bright vocal song.

“Escape And Recapture” is Folk and serious mood vocal song with impressive trumpet and strings accompaniments.

“Angles And Dangles” is nostalgic and sweet vocal song.

“Overlapping Neighbourhoods” is Scottish Folk taste fantastic Pop vocal song.

“Continuous Pushforwards” is an eleven minutes length Scottish Folk Dance taste instrumental song, also resembles Minimal Music like Steve Reich. Piano and strings basically play accompaniment backings and chords. Wind instruments play repetitions of minimal phrases.

“Note Notae” is a sentimental vocal New Age song with impressive clarinet and strings accompaniments.

It’s a good Scottish Folk taste New Age vocal album with piano and strings and wind instruments ensemble. But my favourite songs are two instrumental songs.

Between Tides (All Saints Records / Opal Records, 1988)

Roger Eno’s early New Age album released in 1988.

“Dust At Dawn (The Last Cowboy In The West)” is a Country and Traditional taste refreshing and bright song by piano and string ensemble.

“Field Of Gold” begins with arpeggio like “Arabesque No.1” by Claude Debussy. String ensemble lead and chord follow. Wonderful and warm song.

“Prelude For St. Joan” is a Classical plain string ensemble song.

“Ringinglow” is a English folk taste brave and bright string ensemble with piano accompaniment song.

“The Frost” is a sentimental, mystic and calm Folk taste song, played by string ensemble mainly with piano and vibraphone accompaniments.

“One Gull” is a sorrowful serious minimal piano piece.

“The Silent Hours” is a minimal gentle and slow piano piece, the piano tone is modulated by delay and chorus effects, like a track in his brother Brain Eno’s album “Ambient 2: Plateau of Mirror”.

The title track “Between Tide” is a Folk taste simple piano piece.

“Winter Music” is a sentimental and grandiose Classical also and Folk taste song associates a journey.

“Sunburst” is a bright and innocent string ensemble conposition.

“Autumn” is an apathetic and bright song is consist of string ensemble melodies and chord and simple piano arpeggio.

“Almost Dark” is a slow and warm Folk also New Age taste song, has an element of Ambient.

Traditional also contemporary, warm, fantastic and mystic taste album is created by Roger Eno’s one and only genius.

Lost in Translation (All Saints Records, 1994)

“Lost in Translation” is a 20 tracked full-fledged album by Roger Eno. The half tracks are instrumental, the rest is vocal or chorus songs.

“Occam’s Close Shave” is English or Scottish Folk taste fantastic and wonderful composition and arrangement song, played by accordion, piano, strings and their pizzicato and so on.

“Ne Cede Melia” is a Folk and Traditional also New Age taste mystic vocal song.

“The Last Resort” is a nostalgic song with piano, acoustic guitar and accordion.

“Ventis Secundis” is a deep Folk nostalgic and sentimental song features chorus.

“Quando Solus” is a sacred Ambient and Traditional taste song is consist of sythesizer pad, piano and chorus.

“The Whispering Gallery” is a sentimental composition played by piano, vibraphone and bass guitar.

“Domus In Nebulae” is a Folk and Minimal taste song features chorus.

“Emberdays” is a Scottish traditional taste sentimental song by piano(s) and contrabass.

“Rain Stopped Play” is Minimal chorus and delay modulated piano Ambient song like Brian Eno.

“Docet Umbra” is a Country taste nostalgic song with electric piano (or YAMAHA DX7 piano), synth pad, electric guitar (with no effect), bass guitar and silent cymbal.

“The Green Grass” is Scottish Folk taste song according plays and vocal sings melodies, piano, pizzicato and synthesizer pad play accompaniment.

“Untitled”, vague synthesizer pad plays Folk taste melodies. It associates Daniel Kobialka and entirely resembles today’s Space Ambient.

Very fantastic, nostalgic and mystic album on which Roger’s uniqueness appears. The best work of Roger Eno, contains various style, taste and formation fine songs.

The Room (Atlantic, 2000)

“The Room” is an Ambient album which features piano and sythesizer pads, describes various rooms.

“The Room of Ancillary Dreams” is based on long tone pad chords, and fragmental piano and pad solos ride on.

“The Room of Oracles” is begins with sacred and mystic pad, fragmental fine wonderful and odd piano improvisation follow.

“The Room of Stairs” is a mystic song begins with glockenspiel passages, atmospheric deep pad chord layers follow.

“The Room of Corners” begins with electric piano or muted piano, then Budd’s iconic piano with no effects improvisation follow.

“The Room Alight” is consist of reverb and chorus modulated piano and sythesizer, and mystic also bright composition like Ambient works with Brian Eno.

“The Room of Mirrors” is a very melancholic and sorrowful composition. It based on low tone electric piano backing, fragmental improvisational glockenspiel, piano and synthesizer solos ride on it.

“The Room of Forgotten Children” is a piano solo piece of Budd’s iconic floating and mystic improvisation.

“The Room of Accidental Geometry” is an apathetic few tones piano and synthesizer lead improvisational touches.

“The Room of Secondary Light” is a sorrowful song with twinkle modulated electric piano and beautiful pad like a mist.

“The Flowered Room” begins with EP 4-beat walking base and synthesizer backings, then fragmental electric piano solos follow.

“The Room” is melancholic minimal piano solo piece like Philip Glass and Micheal Nyman.

A very good Ambient and New Age album. There are full of Budd’s unique style and plays.

La Bella Vista (Shout! Factory, 2003)

“La Bella Vista” is a rare piano solo album by Harold Budd. All tracks is the recordings of his iconic floating and mystic piano improvisations.

“Campanile” is an arpeggio based neutral and apathetic piano piece.

“The Rose” is a more dynamic and fragmental and sorrowful piano improvisation.

“Stones” is a mystic and abstract piano improvisation.

“Her Face” is a low tone accompaniment based mystic and melancholic piano piece.

“Children’s Games Beyond Our Reach” is a more fragmental and abstract piano improvisation.

“The Avenue” is a swinging chord backing based neutral and tasteless abstract piano improvisation.

“Bird Charmer” is a mystic and oriental mood ambiguous improvisation of harder piano touches.

“Other Flowers” is an abstract and free but dynamic piano improvisation.

“Il Leopardo Delle Nevi” is an over 10 minutes grand work in this album, this song is an abstract and ambiguous improvisation, also is constructed by flexible repetitions of phrases and passages.

Very unique style and taste piano solo album. His mystic, apathetic, wonderful, floating and flowing piano play style has elements of Contemporary Classic and Jazz, is one and only.
