Fabrizio Paterlini is an Italian composer and pianist. He was a bass player of a band, then he became an orthodox composer and pianist.

His characteristics is the composition has a melancholic and sorrowful tone (but there’s slight hope and will), and his simple and stable piano playing has a tender echo. It suggests abandoned streets and cities, and wild fields which dried up in Europe.

Solo Albums

Viandanze (Fabrizio Paterlini Records, 2009)

“Viandanze” is an early piano solo album of Fabrizio Paterlini. This album is consisted of 12 short piano pieces, and they are simple and beautiful excellent piano music. I feel mindlessness, purity and eternity also mercy by these compositions and playings.

The title song, “Viandanze” is emotional and/but misery impressive good music.

Fragments Found (Fabrizio Paterlini Records, 2010)

“Fragments Found” is a piano solo album was self-released by Fabrizio Paterlini. It consist of 10 short piano pieces. Half of them are melancholic and sorrow compositions, the rest is bright and slight cheerful compositions. They may express various feelings, emotions, senses and sentiments in our life. I can feel sings of his true genius and characteristics.

Autumn Stories (Fabrizio Paterlini Records, 2012)

“Autumn Stories” is a piano album by Fabrizio Paterlini which released in 2012. The tracks were simply titled “Week” plus “No. (1 to 14)”. They are simple and minimal or fragmental piano pieces, there’s a Minimal Music tendency. Some songs were accompanied by a stringed instrument or string quartet.

“Week No. 6”, “No. 7” and “No. 8” are good minimal compositions like Philip Glass, also there is the iconic melancholic taste of Paterlini.

“Week No. 10” is an impressive middle-tempo left and right hands arpeggio song.

“Week No. 11”, “No. 12” and “No. 13” are the unique iconic style melancholic, tragic and apathetic or bit grandiose compositions by Paterlini. The songs precede to present his unique style, later completely shown in “The Art of the Piano”.

“Week No. 14” is a fragmental piano phrase with a cello low-tone accompaniment.

Now (Fabrizio Paterlini Records, 2013)

“Now” is a Post-classical and Electronica album by Fabrizio Paterlini released in 2013. All tracks are piano based recordings. On Electronica tracks, he collaborated with an artist, London-DC. And some tracks were added drums! Songs with a strings accompaniment are cover versions of the former album “Autumn Stories”.

“Darkness is Not the Opposite of Light” is a song of minimal piano arpeggios and passages with a string quartet accompaniment. I like this song.

“Iceland” is an impressive passages of highly processed piano by compressor with a string quartet.

“My Perfect Time” is a melancholic and beautiful piano and strings song with pads, reflections and clap or pluck noises.

“Silent Eyes” is a simple and sentimental piano piece with synthesizer pad chord backings.

“Finale” and “There’s a Light We Might See” are Classical and, orthodox and grandiose bur modern Piano Quartet song. They are very good compositions are arrangements.

A good quality Post-classical album and one of best works of Post-classical piano quintet.

The Art of the Piano (p*dis, 2014)

Fabrizio Paterlini’s piano solo album released in 2014. He succeeded in completely establish his original iconic composition and musical style have melancholic and pathetic mood.

The 1st track, “Somehow Familiar” is a bright song for his composition, but it’s minor key. The piano touches are few but he made use of chord plays with a delay effect to the piano well.

“Conversion With Myself” and “Broken” are songs of the iconic and unique compositions own melancholic, sorrowful and deserted mood.

“Wind Song” is a good song features developments of an impressive riff and a passage.

This album is Fabrizio Paterlini’s excellent master-piece in his piano solo works. Please, listen, everyone!

Live in Bratislava ((self released), 2015)

“Live in Bratislava” is a live album by Fabrizio Paterlini.

This album is consist of various styles of works of his career. From piano solo, piano quartet to Electronica with a drum machine(s). And “Always Let It Go”, “Carpathian Mountains” and some songs are unleashed tracks.

You can enjoy his works by a concert grand piano and a hall acoustics and reflections, and a concert atmosphere and tension. Primely he recorded songs in his home studio with relax.

Winter Stories (Memory Recording, 2018)

“Winter Stories” is a piano solo album by Fabrizio Paterlini. The compositions were written by the method of Classical Music. There’s sentimental, solitary and apathetic mood. And his expression had progressed from the former works, that he vividly established in “The Art of Piano”, it’s expression of passion and emotion. There’s passion or emotion in sorrow and misery. The piano plays are more dynamic, some songs are higher-tempo.

Transition I (Memory Recordings, 2019)

“Transitions” are a piano solo recording at the Villa Dionisi, an old hotel in Cerea, Verona. The concept of the session is playing piano improvisational with no composition. The lengths of songs are about 2 minutes. The recording releases of the session are three volumes.

This first volume is consist of eight songs are fragmental and vague than usual. There’s no clear theme and melodies. The mood and is melancholic and sentimental. This album seems to be a reflection for himself by playing piano. He broke his own style to find his new style.

Transition II (Memory Recordings, 2020)

The second release of the “Transition Session”. The music is agressive, clear and there’s many repetitions of passages. The tendency of this album is Minimal Music which associates Philip Glass. And this volume is piano experiments and a musical pursuit by Paterlini.

Transition III (Memory Recordings, 2020)

The last volume of the “Transition” series. The piano plays are minimal but melodic also sorrowful. The piano tone in this album is clear and solid.

The “Transition” session is Fabrizio Paterlini’s musical travel, and his reflection or searching for self.

LifeBlood (Memory Recordings, 2021)

“LifeBlood” is a Post-classical album by Fabrizio Paterlini. After the release of the “Transition” series, he reflected his musical roots, core and prospects, then he realized they are piano solo music and cinematic music. So this album was divided two parts. The former is the part of piano quintet and some songs were attached synthesizers and electronic percussions. The later is it of piano solo music.

“And We Go Again” is a minimal piano quartet song, in some parts, sythesizer sequences and electronic percussions joined.

“For My Kids” is a gentle, bright and nostalgic piano quartet song. A rare and impressive sweet song as for Paterlini. I like this song.

“Thoughts” and “Thoughts (Reprise)” are bright but sorrowful minimal short piano pieces.

“Solitude” is a simple and gentle piano solo piece.

“White Forest (In Kazan)” is Paterlini’s iconic style of a solitary and elegant piano piece.

“LifeBlood” and “Summer Sketch” are also the iconic style compositions, despite they are more melodic and melancholic simultaneously.

“Obsession” is an improvisational minimal piano piece, this taste appeared following albums.

The Studio Sessions (Memory Recordings, 2021)

“The Studio Sessions” is a his private studio piano recital album by Fabrizio Paterlini. The recordings were held by his own uplight piano and the cover of which is open and recorded directly by microphones. And this sessions live streamed on YouTube, in 2020.

It’s a kind of his the best album of Fabrizio Paterlini. And, a great fruit of his musical career and his aptitude.

FIFTH (Memory Recordings, 2023)

“FIFTH” is an Post-classical album by Fabrizio Paterlini, and it’s the compilation of his “Four Elements” series, “ARIA”, “ACQUA”, “TERRA” and “FUCCO” EPs. He adopted various styles of arrangements such as piano solo, piano quintet, organ play and Ambient.

“FUCCO” is the iconic sentimental style of piano solo composition of Paterlini.

“Everything Flows” is the iconic style piano solo with many effects for the piano tone. The same “Away” is a piano piece with attached rain falling environmental noises.

“TERRA” is a significant piano quintet with atmosphoric vague strings are modulated by reverb and/or chorus.

“Space Between” is a piano arpeggio with a strings accompaniment recording like Ambient.

“Under the Sea” is a serious song is consist of melancholic piano phrases with long tone strings chord accompagniments.

“On My Way Home” is also a iconic sorrowful piano solo piece.

“Aria” is a short melancholic piano solo piece of melodies like singing.

“Following the Clouds” is a very melancholic and sorrowful also serious and beautiful piano solo piece is suitable for the ending.
